GriffonRawl Competitors
Stay Humble. Stay Hungry. Represent Something Bigger Than Yourself.
Competition at GriffonRawl
At GriffonRawl Combat Sports & Fitness, we are proud to support members who want to test themselves in competition. Our team competes across Mixed Martial Arts, Boxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and submission grappling, from first-time competitors to experienced amateur and professional athletes.
But competing for GriffonRawl means more than signing up for an event or stepping into a ring, cage, or tournament. When you compete under our name, you represent the entire team.
What We Look for in a Competitor
Talent matters, but talent alone is never enough. We invest our time and energy into people who demonstrate consistency, dedication, patience, communication, humility, and coachability.
A GriffonRawl competitor should stay humble and hungry regardless of experience or accomplishments. We want athletes who are willing to listen, learn, work, and understand that long-term success is usually built through smaller steps taken consistently.
At times, our coaches may recommend developmental competitions or additional experience before a competitor pursues a larger goal. Those recommendations are not intended to hold anyone back. They are intended to help prepare the athlete for success.
No Superstar Mentality - Team Comes First
GriffonRawl is a team, not a collection of individuals expecting everyone else to serve their personal ambitions. We do not build our competition program around high-maintenance personalities or a superstar mentality.
We invest in people who invest in others. Giving back to the team does not necessarily mean spending money. Some of the most valuable contributions cost nothing: showing up, communicating, holding pads, drilling, providing quality rounds, helping another competitor prepare, encouraging teammates, attending events when possible, and simply being someone the team can count on.
Success breeds success. The more our competitors train together, learn from one another, and push one another forward, the stronger the entire team becomes.
Competition is a Relationship - Not a Demand
Joining GriffonRawl does not automatically mean our coaches will immediately place someone into competition. A new member who has only trained with us for a short period should not expect to arrive and immediately demand a fight or competition opportunity, particularly when our coaches have not yet had enough time to evaluate that person's skills, conditioning, consistency, attitude, communication, and ability to follow coaching.
We need time to know you, and you need time to know us. Athletes who arrive with an established and successful competitive history may naturally begin at a different point, but every competitor still needs to build trust and communication with the coaching staff.
Patience Matters. Relationships Matter. Consistency Matters.
Be Coachable
One of the most important qualities a competitor can demonstrate is coachability. Being coachable means listening to experienced advice, asking questions, communicating honestly, accepting constructive criticism, and then making an effort to apply what is being taught.
Good communication goes both ways. We want competitors to talk with their coaches about their goals and concerns. At the same time, if the coaching staff repeatedly recommends a developmental path and an athlete continually refuses to follow it, that athlete may receive less attention for future competitive opportunities.
We cannot want your success more than you do. Trust the process, put in the work, and give your coaches something to invest in.
What GriffonRawl Coaches Give Back
When our competitors demonstrate commitment to the team and their development, GriffonRawl commits to them. Our coaches routinely invest time beyond normal classes helping competitors prepare.
Depending on the event and athlete, that support can include additional training, specialized rounds, game planning, wrapping and taping, traveling to events, cornering, and helping athletes evaluate their performance afterward.
When you win, we celebrate with you. When things do not go your way, we look at what happened, identify what needs improvement, and get back to work. Competition gives us information, and every experience can become another opportunity to grow.
Together in Victory - Together in Defeat
A real team does not disappear when someone's hand is not raised. We expect our competitors to support one another through training camps, tournament preparation, fight preparation, victories, setbacks, and everything in between.
Today's training partner may be tomorrow's competitor, and tomorrow that same person may be the teammate helping you prepare for your biggest opportunity.
Whether you are pursuing your first Jiu-Jitsu tournament, Boxing match, Muay Thai bout, or MMA fight, remember: you compete as an individual, but you represent a team.
The GriffonRawl Competitor Standard
Stay humble. Stay hungry. Be patient. Communicate. Be coachable. Put in the work. Support your teammates. Give back to the team. Trust the process.
Together in Victory. Together in Defeat.
